Welcome to Episode 125 of the LinuxLUGcast

We are an open podcast/LUG that meets at 9 PM EST every first and third friday of the month using mumble.

If you would like to join us all you need to do is install a mumble client on your computer or mobile device, go to linuxlugcast.com to get the server details, then just join us in the “LinuxLUGcast” room. If you do not want to participate, just listen you can connect to the mumble server, go into the “listening booth” room. If you need help configuring your mumble client there is a “How to” on our site explaining how to configure the desktop client.

Today we are going to learn some command line productivity hacks. As you already know, we use “cd” command to move between a stack of directories in Unix-like operating systems. In this guide I am going to teach you how to navigate directories faster without having to use “cd” command often. There could be many ways, but I only know the following five methods right now! I will keep updating this guide when I came across any methods or utilities to achieve this task in the days to come.

Tony Hughes:
So I’ve been playing with Fedora for the last week or so in preparation for the next Distro Hoppers podcast and yesterday I decided to update to F30, so the short of it is it broke Mumble and even a clean install did not resolve the issue. So I’m back to F29 as I can’t talk to the mintCast guy’s or Moss to record any podcasts without mumble installed and working. Trying F30 again will have to wait until I get home as I will have another spare PC to try it on and 100Mb internet, only having 4Mb where I am at the moment means updates and iso downloads take Hours, yes that is not a miss print it took me over 2hours to do the original OTA update from F29-30 and downloading an iso took over an hour.

I thought you guys might want to not wait two weeks to talk the Atomic Pi. Door replied, he got his today, but hasn’t opened it yet. Second x86 SBC in sixth moths I found out about after the first run was all gone 🙁
